Happy Hour Signature Appetizers

by Heather Sell, ShoutOUT Tampa Bay, September 5, 2016

Disclosure: Del Frisco’s Grille generously invited me to sample their weekday “Sip & Share” Happy Hour Menu and provided me with complimentary appetizers and drinks in order to provide my honest opinion on the experience. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own and based completely on my own thoughts and experiences.

When I think of happy hours, my mind conjures up images of a dimly lit bar, tightly packed bar stools and small spaces, unimaginative décor, and subpar appetizers. NOT what I experienced at all when I visited Del Frisco’s Grille “Sip & Share” happy hour at their Tampa location last week! What a beautifully executed space. Modern, yet warm interior and inspired design, an abundance of natural light flowing into the room, lots of table and bar space, art-inspired lighting and decor, and tantalizing appetizers.

Many thanks to Del Frisco’s Grille and their General Manager, Beth Wiseman, for the warm welcome and amazing service! And to our server, Gia, who was exceptionally attentive to us during our stay. The appetizers and drinks we sampled left us melting into a puddle of joy.

To kick off happy hour, we needed of course, libations. I started with The Adult Milkshake, a creamy blend of vanilla ice cream, Nocello Walnut Liqueur and Crème de Cacao – total nutty chocolate nirvana. I can SO adult for THIS!  Then we tried the White Sangria, a refreshing fusion of Pinot Grigio, White Peach Puree, Peach Schnapps, with a fresh fruit strawberry-peach popsicle added as a delightful finishing touch.

Now, onto our nibbles. Our buffet of blissful bites included the Cheesesteak Eggrolls, Wagyu Corndogs, Deviled Eggs, Pulled Pork Nachos, French Onion Dip, and Wild Mushroom Flatbread. We indulged. We moaned. We swooned. We’ll be back!

Out of all the incredible appetizers we sampled (which were all tasty), let me hit your palate with our top 3 picks, just to get you started.

Wagyu Corndogs, French Onion Dip, Wild Mushroom Flatbread

  • French Onion Dip served with crunchy skillet potato chips – Definitely a must-try! What a sublime combination of rich but light creaminess and subtle onion undertones in this mouthwatering dip, served with crunchy homemade skillet potato chips. A blended balance of velvety goodness.
  • Wild Mushroom Flatbread – Such a savory treat! Wild mushrooms crowned with tangy fontina cheese, caramelized onions, baby arugula, and drizzled with white truffle oil atop a crunchy edged/soft middle flatbread. Light and satisfying.
  • Wagyu Corndogs (pronounced WAG-you) – Mini hotdogs enrobed in a sweet, soft cornbread, served as a band of 4 and accompanied with two dipping sauces – spicy ketchup and honey mustard. Nicely harmonized flavors, with an “MMmmhmmm good!” curtain close.

Del Frisco’s Grille is located at 4138 W. Boy Scout Blvd, Tampa right down the street from International Plaza. Their “Sip & Share” Happy Hour is from 4:00 – 6:30pm, Monday – Friday, and includes their signature happy hour appetizers for $6 and draft beers for $5. They also offer lunch, dinner, and a Sunday brunch, so be sure to check out their online menu to see their full range of entrées, appetizers, salads, drinks, and desserts (CAN’T forget the desserts).

Next visit, I’m planning to try the Parmesan Spinach Dip and the Roasted Tomato Flatbread appetizers. I also hope to be lounging up on the covered rooftop patio, friends in tow, and drink in hand. How about you – can you adult for this too?

Wish you were here…..
