Straz Center’s Patel Conservatory presents Showstoppers

Tampa, Fla. – The Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts will present Showstoppers – Words and Music in Jaeb Theater on August 7-9.

Back by popular demand, director Scott Daniel brings a brand new collection of Broadway hits and popular tunes to the stage in the fully staged 90-minute production Showstoppers – Words and Music.

Lloyd Weber, Stephen Sondheim and Kander and Ebb, advanced level students in grades seven through college will perform with a live band after spending three intensive weeks honing solo and ensemble musical theater skills.

Showstoppers: Words and Music will feature selections from Chicago, Cabaret, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Phantom of the Opera and others.

Daniel, in his second year of directing this production, has performed in national tours of Cirque Dreams and Footloose. Regionally, his credits include The Wiz, Spring Awakening, Bright Lights Big City and many more.

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 and 7 p.m. Regularly priced tickets to Showstoppers start at $20 and may be purchased by calling 813.229.STAR (7827) or 800.955.1045 outside Tampa Bay, in person at the Straz Center Ticket Office or online at www.strazcenter.org.
