2nd Annual Silent Auction to Support Emerging Clay Artists

St. Petersburg, FL The 2nd Annual Silent Auction at the Morean Center for Clay is scheduled for Friday, March 6th from 6-8pm. The Silent Auction is a fundraiser for the Artist-in-Residence (AIRs) program and will be held at the Center for Clay located in the Historic Train Depot in the vibrant Warehouse Arts District; 420 22nd Street South, St Petersburg. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help send the emerging young artists enrolled in the program to the prestigious National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts Conference, this year held in Providence, RI. Admission to the Silent Auction is FREE and all artwork is priced to sell!

The Artist-In-Residence program is a unique and highly competitive program, attracting dozens of applicants from across the nation for only six positions each year. The AIRs are comprised of individuals with either their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in art who are interested in working in a studio setting and fostering their growth as a ceramic artist. During their time in the program, the AIRs are encouraged to build their body of work, apply to shows and participate in group and individual critiques. They also gain hands-on experience running a studio and teaching classes. After completing the program, the AIRs typically go on to graduate school, to own and operate their own studios or become professors at colleges and universities.

Local and nationally renowned artists that have donated to the Silent Auction include: Jonathan Barnes, Bede Clarke, Naomi Cleary, Jim Connell, Chandra Debuse, Harris Deller, Trevor, Amy Higgenbotham, Stephen Heywood, Tyler Houstin, Kim Kirchman, Lauren Kuterbach, Mike Jabbur, Nick Joerling, Dan McCabe, Ryan Michel, Matt Schiemann, McKenzie Smith, Haley Swanson, Kodi Thompson, Adam Yungbluth, Melissa Yungbluth and more.
