Wish You Were Here: Smashburger – Clearwater, FL

We Got Our SMASH On!
by Heather Lindsay Sell, ShoutOUT®, November 13, 2016

Disclosure: Smashburger invited ShoutOUT® to participate in a tasting event at their newest Clearwater, FL location. They provided all of the samplings in order to provide my honest opinion on the experience. The opinions expressed here, however, are entirely my own and based completely on my own thoughts and experiences.

Ever hear of Smashburger®? I hadn’t until I was invited to a tasting event last week at their newest Clearwater location. Oh what a scrumptious experience! Be sure to watch the slideshow above to sneak a peek at our tasting adventures.

Smashburger®, only the 2nd in the Tampa Bay area, is feeding the area’s growing gourmet hamburger appetite with their buttery wares, signature “smashed” burgers, and premium fresh ingredients.  Their mission, simply stated, is to craft and serve better burgers. As far as I’m concerned, mission accomplished!

What exactly is “Smashburger®”? Smashburger®, a boutique burger chain, acquired its name from the “smash” process employed when grilling the meat. The 385° heated grill is brushed with unsalted, clarified butter, then the meat is peppered with signature seasonings and “smashed” for a set period of time, expertly sealing in the meaty juices and creating an idyllic caramelized crust. Simply blissful!

So many items to choose from! Select anything from the Classic Smash to a Truffle Mushroom Swiss to the Spicy Jalapeño Baja or their Tampa Bay exclusive Medianoche, and more. Insanely delicious! You also have a choice of proteins: Fresh, never frozen, 100% Certified Angus Beef, Black Bean burgers, or all-white chicken. Spicy chipotle, classic egg, multi-grain, and even Gluten-free Udi’s buns are available!

Suggestions of what to order when you go? Start with the Classic Smash (piled with American Cheese,  Smash sauce, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles & red onions on a buttery-toasted egg bun), a side of Veggie Frites (lightly flash-fried carrots & green beans lightly seasoned with garlic seasoning), and a creamy handspun milkshake (crafted with Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream) – heavenly! My fave milkshake, so far anyways, is the Salted Caramel milkshake. Sweet and salty.

On my next visit, I plan to try the Avocado Club Smashburger® (stacked with applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing & mayo on a multi-grain bun), the Chocolate Oreo milkshake, and an order of Sweet Potato Smashfries.

From the butter-brushed toasted buns to the strategic order of placed condiments and generous servings of premium, fresh ingredients to the full-flavored satisfying meatiness of the burgers, I was utterly impressed and my taste buds forever thankful.
