New Feuds, Old Foes, and the Wand of Watoomb

Marvel Universe LIVE!

Disclosure: Through my relationship with Amalie Arena and Press PR + Marketing, I was gifted tickets to experience Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes and provide my honest, personal opinion on my experiences. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own and based completely on my own honest thoughts, perceptions, and experiences.

I am Doctor Strange. Master of the Mystic Arts. Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme.” Doctor Strange’s deep voice booms as he glides over the stage and gives his warning of impending doom.

Age of Heroes, the latest creation in the Marvel Universe LIVE! series, is a live-action show that is truly action-packed. Good vs. evil. A battle for power. Heroes and villains.

Me, Nephew, Iron ManI’ve been wanting to take my 12-year-old nephew to one of the Marvel Universe LIVE! shows since I heard about them a few years back, but not until recently have we had the chance to go. Many thanks to Amalie Arena and Press PR for making it possible.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect during the show, or if I would be as entertained as my nephew. Guess what? I really enjoyed it! The music, lighting, aerial maneuvers, set design, video projection, motorcycle stunts, and electrifying pyrotechnics were just fun to watch. There were so many fights scenes and battles across the stage, I wasn’t sure where to look.

FIre dancersHere’s the story low-down. Loki has returned to acquire the mystical and powerful Wand of Watoomb in his quest for world domination and lust for the crown of Asgard. Of course, the super heroes can’t let him win. What unfurls is an epic battle featuring 25 super heroes and villains, motorcycle chases, action scenes, aerial battles, explosions, lasers, and a climactic musical score to get your pulse racing.

Who to expect in this epic battle? Spider-man, the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Thor, The Hulk, Green Goblin, Nebula, Rhino, Black Widow, Loki, and many more (25 altogether).

Marvel battles

After the adventure, my nephew and I both agreed that the motorcycle stunts, especially when Spiderman does a backflip while riding a motorcycle, was at the top of our favorite’s list. Followed by the fire-baton dancers and the ballet aerialists suspended from the ceiling.  The video projection was amazing, creating a more immersive viewing experience while producing visually dynamic, ever-changing sets. The projected floors even changed to match whatever scene, such as the floors turning into molten, rising lava while the Super Heroes were in the volcano.

If you’re a Marvel Comics’ fan and interested in taking the family, you better hurry. Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes is only at Amalie Arena in Tampa through Sunday, January 7th.  The show runs for about an hour and 45 minutes, including a brief 10 minute or so intermission. The intermission gave us plenty of time to snag more snacks and find a nearby restroom.

So, are you ready to plunge into the world of Marvel Comics Super Heroes and Villains and watch an epic battle between good and evil go down? Then gird your loins and don your armor for Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes at Amalie Arena.
